Job Readiness & Training
The Job Readiness and Training Program offers youth in foster care (16-21 years of age) and young adults (18 – 21 years of age) an individualized and structured 3-tiered curriculum that provides the values, skills and knowledge needed to be successful in the workplace.
Summary of Services
Individualized job readiness curriculum (appropriate dress, resume building, interview skills, workplace etiquette, communication skills and conflict management)
Connection with paid and non-paid work experiences (could include job shadowing and/or internships)
Membership in the Age Up Job Club
For foster care youth and young adults who flourish best in a non-traditional vocational setting Age Up offers:
Structured job readiness curriculum provided through Youthbuild program (appropriate dress, resume building, interview skills, workplace etiquette, communication skills and conflict management). This program is provided on-site at Sojourners in McArthur, Ohio.
Training in basic tool use, heavy equipment operation, and workplace safety
Paid and non-paid work experience, including construction and rehabilitation of low-income housing and natural resource conservation projects across Appalachian Ohio.
